GitOps and Progressive Delivery with Flux, Istio, and Flagger
Having in our minds the very high level of service expected by our customers, we were urged to build our architecture as resilient and reliable as we could. That brought us many challenges, from scalability to observability, from multi-cluster and multi-region deployments to managed services geo-replication. While many of these challenges are already tackled, some are still a work in progress. Marco Amador from Anova is going to describe to you with some hands-on demos our journey on why we’ve chosen progressive delivery to multi-cluster and multi-region Kubernetes, using GitOps workflow with FluxCD and progressive delivery with Flagger, Istio service mesh, and Prometheus/Thanos, and the challenges that we’re still trying to solve.

Marco is an experienced Software Engineer, enthusiast of Open Source and the DevOps culture and practices and has been working is Cloud-Native projects for a varied range of industries, from Telco, Urban Mobility, Media Intelligence to the Industrial Internet of Things. He’s currently the Chapter Lead for Data Engineering and SRE at ANOVA, helping build the Cloud-Native IIoT Platform for a diverse set of markets: Industrial Gas, Rail, Energy, Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater, and other industries.
🔶 Daniel Cohen, Director of Customer Success (Styra)
Daniel runs customer success at Styra, the founders and maintainers of Open Policy Agent, a graduated project at CNCF. He previously held a variety of sales engineering leadership roles at PagerDuty, AppDynamics, and DataStax. His background is in client-facing trading technologies as VP of Technology at JPMorgan.
